Maroochydore Library opens new chapter

The new-look Maroochydore Library.

Maroochydore Library is celebrating the beginning of a new chapter.

The library has reopened its doors, unveiling a contemporary and vibrant new look.

Councillor Jason O’Pray said the library refresh – which includes an updated children’s area – was worth the wait.

“The new-look library celebrates the local landscape by incorporating surf and ocean themes and using images of local landmarks. The design truly brings the space to life,” he said.

“The new ‘discovery layout’ is also likely to be a hit with the Maroochydore community. We adopted a similar approach for our upgrades to Coolum and Beerwah libraries, and found that library staff have more time on the floor and this creates a better customer experience.

“Our staff really do enjoy helping people find information or their next read.”

The library’s shelf and seating have been updated. The revamped children’s area has special seating and reading nooks to encourage youngsters to settle in and lose themselves in the pages of a good book.

“This lovely feature was possible thanks to the generosity of The Friends of Maroochydore Library who raised the funds through book sales,” Cr O’Pray said.

The group has raised more than $100,000 over the past 16 years.

The Maroochydore Library is located at 44 Sixth Ave, Maroochydore.
