Sunshine Butterflies are here to help.
Sunshine Butterflies was founded by Leanne Walsh, whose son Curtis has cerebral palsy.
The challenges that Leanne, husband Damien and Curtis face day to day as a family, ultimately has given Leanne the Sunshine Butterflies vision – to empower families and individuals living with disability and to provide them with the support they need to achieve a happy and fulfilled life.
Launching the charity in 2005, Leanne made it her mission to reduce the stigma of disability within the community, and now leads a small and passionate team to help make this dream a reality.
The vibrant Sunshine Butterflies team provide a range of boutique and unique services, programs, supports and resources which includes job creation, recreation and education for all abilities.
The Sunshine Butterflies ‘one stop shop’ is located at the fabulous ‘Our Backyard’ facility, which is the new hub for participants, carers, families and members of the community who work together to create a space and place to flourish alongside each other and their extended family including furry and feathered friends.
Sunshine Butterflies services were created to assist families find their way through the confusing maze of disability services and support available, referring them to the appropriate service or program while also connecting them with other families and support groups.
With the NDIS soon to roll out in 2018/19, it will further assist families and individuals to have choice and control over their disability supports, including the ability to choose who and how these supports are provided and managed.
Our respite staff are qualified, compassionate and wonderfully warm! Whether you need someone for a couple of hours, a weekend or a week, we can organise the right person for your needs.
We pride ourselves on our outstanding customer service, which is a core value of the organisation. Our uniquely flexible and respectful culture that supports our individuals and their families living with a disability is what sets us apart.
Sunshine Butterflies focus on quality and accessible, active and healthy living initiatives to build skills and create healthy lifestyles for people living with disability.
